Auburn University Fish Market

Auburn University Fish Market has a new building just a couple of hundred yards north of the ponds and old building on AL 147, aka: North College.

If you're planning on going: They are open Saturday mornings from 8am - Noon for the purchase of live fish and you can also buy the frozen products. Of course, the earlier you get there the better. The frozen shrimp, catfish and crunchies can be purchased during the week by the bag or case. Mornings are best but be sure and get there before 3pm if you go on a weekday afternoon.

Great place to buy IQF headless shrimp. They come in 5lb bags. Handy to have on hand for shrimp Po Boys, etouffee, boiled shrimp, etc. A few times a year they have fresh shrimp available by preorder.

We've tried the IQF catfish fillets. They're as good as you can get. The Catfish Crunchies make a spicy Po Boy. They're spicier baked than fried, but you can cook them either way.

Directions to the Market:

I85 Exit #51 turn north towards Auburn University. You are on College Street. Continue on past Toomers Corner and cross the railroad tracks still headed north. When you see the new Publix at the intersection of Shug Jordan and East University Drive, you have a mile or two to go. Next you will see the ponds on your left, this will let you know you are almost there. Look for the building above on your left.
